Matt (Mateusz) Faltyn
Co-Founder & CTO
Matt (Mateusz) Faltyn entered the Bitcoin space in 2019 through discussions on ECDSA vs. Schnorr signatures. He previously led the Blockchain R&D team at Aquanow. At the University of British Columbia (UBC), Matt focused on forecasting brain tumor outcomes and was recognized as a top 10 PhD student in Canada, earning accolades like the Vanier Scholarship and CIHR Doctoral Research Scholarship, which he declined to focus on Bitcoin. He holds a Master's in Applied Mathematics from UBC, with over 14 publications, 3,000 citations, and $350k in research awards. His machine learning career spans eight years.

With over seven years of expertise in machine learning, Mohammad has led the deployment of machine learning projects utilizing on-chain data, which have generated over $13 million in savings for institutional clients. He holds a degree in Economics and Mathematics from the University of British Columbia (UBC), reflecting his strong quantitative and analytical foundation.

January 2022
Matt and Mohammad meet at University of British Columbia’s Math Learning Centre. They bond over their mutual interest in Bitcoin.
Febuary 2022
Matt and Mohammad begin working together at a Vancouver-based digital asset company, leading the R&D team.
December 2023
Following Mohammad's recommendation, Matt starts applying models he originally developed for brain tumor forecasting to trading Bitcoin options.
May 2024
The opportunity cost of staying in their respective jobs, including Matt’s PhD program, becomes too high, leading them to start Trilemma Capital.
June 2024
Matt and Mohammad realize that the talent market prioritizes social factors over technical expertise. To address this imbalance, they launch the Trilemma Beta tournament.
